The UKs best dog walks

The winning walks in the UKs 21 Top Dog Walks 2008 were announced a couple of weeks ago. The Preston area does well with three of the top 21 walks, Cuerden Valley Park, Preston Junction Nature Reserve, and the Millennium Ribble link.

For a great list of dog walks throughout the UK take a look at the 21 Top Dog Walks website

Well done to Visit Preston, Visit Lancashire and the LEP for helping to promote the walks and of course The Cuerden Valley Park Trust, Lancashire County Council, Preston City Council and British Waterways for providing some great open spaces.

21 Top Dog Walks is sponsored by Hills.

The benefits of a good walk with your canine companion are endless – from warding off depression and managing weight problems to increasing your chances of meeting Mr or Miss Right. And they’re just as great for your pooch too - twice a day walkies will help reduce canine obesity and related conditions including heart disease, arthritis, breathing difficulties and diabetes.

Some great recommendations there, but i have to point something out, i drove there with the dog after reading about it on your blog, and i got my directions from google maps.
If you follow the directions on google it takes you to a road that is actually private, although very poorly marked as private. In fact the sign suggests that it is ok to park your car there, saying "access to carwood and woodlea" (not exactly those names as that wouldn't be nice to put private housenames up, but something like that) this is actually house names and not the name of the woods and the guy who lives there came out to me being extremely anal and aggressive.
He told me to get off his land and this was his parking spot, even though there was LOTS of space and he had a massive driveway, he came out and moved his blue van from his driveway to where i was parked, and told me the sign CLEARLY SAID private property, which it did not. It's better to just stay away from idiots like that, so i would recommend to anyone looking for directions, park in the capitol centre which is just beside this nature walk, if you need directions, look up the Vue Cinema and the walk is just behind that.

Dont let me put anyone off this walk as it is an excellent route, just stay away from the jerk with the blue van.
